orthoSIM’s policy is to look for the best “combination” of models and clinical applications, in order to provide “integral solutions” to the clinician and the implant designer.
If you have a relevant and validated model, convert it with us to the internet for simulation and earn money for each simulation.
How does it work?
The biomechanical model must be adapted for an open access and the simulation platform must incorporate and promote the new model.
The service of integration is based on a tight technical and marketing collaboration with the model owner, in order to prepare the model inputs and outputs for telematic consultation, optimize it for automatic simulation and disseminate the benefits to potential customers.
Nevertheless, only validated models approved by our Scientific Committee and engaging in our Model Integration Program can be incorporated.
Why is the service relevant?
The simulation service has the capability to work with models located at different research labs or organizations. Each model tackles a specific clinical or engineering problem (organized by human joints) in a rigorous and objective way, based on biomechanical models that have followed stringent previous validation procedures.
The system delivers graphical outputs showing the implant-patient behaviour, as well as a summary report with the biomechanical analysis based on expert rules derived by the model researchers for each model. The user-friendly interface (UFI) captures all necessary input data ans delivers the simulation results to the end user in a very intuitive format.
Model integration comprises several adaptation and development tasks, performed in tight collaboration with the model owners to parameterise the model, determine the input and output parameters and make the model respond automatically to those parameters thorough the web.

Model Integration Program
The MIP provides an intense technical and marketing collaboration with the model owner (the research lab), in order to prepare and optimize the model for web consultation, as well as carry out the marketing of the model to the orthoSIM’s customers.
This Program provides an evident advantage to those research teams who already own or are in the process of validating new biomechanical models. It can accelerate the process of publishing the model in the Internet and making it useful for society by allowing simulations with it.
Labs that engage in our integration program receive a specific percentage of the incomes obtained with the model, thus helping in the financing of further investigations, acquisition of technology, etc. They also obtain a copy of the data provided by the users, so that a further improvement of the model is facilitated.
On the other side, labs must commit themselves to the following obligations:
- Telematic access exclussivity for orthoSIM during 5 years.
- Compliance to the validation methodology of orthoSIM, supervised by our Scientific Committee .
- Publication of model effectiveness in peer-reviewed papers.
- Technical maintenance, implant modelling and expert support to the orthoSIM’s staff, so that proper function of the model can be guaranteed.
