orthoSIM has a commercial infrastructure supported by implant manufacturers. The trainees have access to the same models as the professionals do, but with implants that are not used for real simulations and hence offered at no cost to the orthoSIM’s students.
A database of anonymous patient cases is accessible for learning purposes, as well. This database is updated by surgeons with presurgical and postsurgical patient information. This is necessary for validating the tool and permits to hold discussions among specialized members.

Besides, participants in the training programme receive a login key for the e-learning portal, called OrthoTrain, where theoretical and practical courses are held related to clinical biomechanics, orthopaedics, implant design, etc. Courses are usually specialized either for clinical or for engineering students.
